Web Page Policy
The Greater Western Reserve Council Internet Web page is provided as a resource
to enhance the communication of program information to units and leaders
within the Council. Information to be provided on the Council Web page must
represent the best principles of the Boy Scouts of America and the Greater
Western Reserve Council. The content of these pages must be monitored and
verified to assure that the information is accurate, timely and represents
actual programs presented by the Council, Council Committees or Districts.
The appropriate Council Committee, District Committee or other Chair will
authorize certain individuals to provide information to the Council Web
page committee. Access to publish information to the Council pages will
be limited to authorized persons only.
While the Internet can provide a valuable tool for communication it must
be realized that the potential exists for the misuse of the Internet and
the information provided by persons with access to that information. Therefor
it is the policy of the Council that in no case will complete names, addresses
or telephone numbers of youth members of the Council will be published on
these pages. Adult volunteers names and phone numbers may be included only
where those adults have authorized the Council to publish that information.
The Council web pages will not provide space to units or individuals for
their own web pages. The Council will provide links to those GWRC units
with their own web pages as well as links to web pages which provide significant
resource value to units and leaders within our Council. Examples of these
links would be the National Council Web site, National Program High Adventure
Bases, and other web sites of value. The Council will not endorse or approve
any private or commercial web site for content or value. It is the express
intent of the Council that the GWRC web pages not provide any individual
with personal or commercial gain. A statement shall be placed on each link
page which shall state: The GWRC does not endorse or approve any web site
or the information contained therein. This link is provided for reference
