Important Change To Merit Badge Advancement Procedure
The Council Advancement Committee has been trying to find an easy way to check what merit badge counselors are being used. What would be the point for us to approve merit badge counselors if troops were using people who had not been approved? We had asked troops to list the merit badge counselor on the advancement report in the right hand column. We did not get much cooperation. We asked the Council Executive Board for their approval to make this mandatory and on June 18th they did so.
As of August 1st, all troop advancement reports must have a merit badge counselor listed or the form will not be accepted at the Council Service Center. Those submitting electronic forms must submit a written form till national puts the column on their electronic form. They have accepted the idea and will implement it soon.
