Venture Crew Training Weekend

Venture Leader Specific Training

Venturing is the young adult program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are aged 14 (and have completed eighth grade) to 20. Venturing units are called crews; adults are called advisors. The youth leader is the president. The program is developed by local community organizations (chartered organizations) such as churches, civic groups, and educational and business institutions that match the interests of young adults with the program resources of the organization. This training is designed to introduce adult venturing crew leaders to the basic information needed to operate a crew. The training is divided into five sessions: 1) Here’s Venturing, 2) Understanding and Protecting Youth, 3) Leadership and Organization, 4) Awards and Recognitions, and 5) Resources and Program Planning.

Varsity Coach Leader Specific Training

This course addresses the needs of adults who have accepted the responsibility of delivering the Scouting program to youth by serving as Varsity Coaches and assistant Varsity Coaches. It will introduce them to the rewards and challenges of Varsity Team Leadership. The training sessions are thorough, comprehensive and fun. Participants will be enthused to discover the essentials of their leadership positions and to realize that they can easily become successful Scout leaders. Discussions, group activities and role-plays will keep the sessions lively and create a fellowship of learning. The training will introduce practical ways to instill the eight methods of Scouting into Team programs. It will also include hands-on exercises to experience the six steps of a team meeting.
